Katy, 100, Indianapolis, passed away on August 14, 2015. She was born on July 7, 1915 to Chester Mitman and Garnett Mitman Miller in Mulberry, Indiana. After graduating from Rossville H.S. in 1933 and Indiana Business College, she held numerous secretarial positions which included Purdue University, Tom Joyce 7 UP, Paul Cooke Agency, and retired after 15 years as office manager of the Donal Draper Dental Office in Nora.

Katy was preceded in death by husbands, Clarence Cheney and Robert Godfrey, and a son, Richard Cheney. She was a 64 year member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church.

Katy loved studying scripture and participating in Bible Studies. She also enjoyed music, gardening, sewing, cooking, spring mushroom hunting, as well as Pacers and Butler basketball games. First and foremost were those times she spent with her family and serving others through her many volunteer jobs: Tab Soup Kitchen, Women’s Prison Ministry, Tab Deacon, Stephen Ministry, and Fairbanks Hospital. In addition, Katy was a devoted and active member of Alanon.

She is survived by her children: Sandra Cheney, Robert (Anne) Cheney, Jane Cheney Myer, and step daughter Ann Godfrey Booth. She is also survived by grand children: Jason Cheney (Lisa), Erin Cheney Brashears (Aaron), Tamara Myer Weaver (Mark), Jennifer Myer (Josh Kaufman), Scott Myer, Michael Myer (Chelsea), John R Booth (Leslie), as well as 13 great grandchildren and sisters: Mary Blickenstaff and June Bowman.

A Visitation will be held at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 East 34th Street, Indianapolis 46205, on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 am, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen or Media Ministry, or to a favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
